Isidor Macabich statue


The chaplain Isidoro Macabich i Llobet was born in Ibiza in 1883 and died in the same city 90 years later. He was a multifaceted and controversial chaplain, one of the islanders characters that delved into the local culture and made important efforts to publicize Ibiza´s history and culture. He also was a writer, columnist, poet, archaeologist, teacher and historian very rooted to the island so unknown and forgotten of his time. His most important work was "History of Ibiza", four volumes published in 1966 that collect the studies on the island. The figure of Isidoro Macabich is sitting on a bench in Sa Carrossa in Dalt Vila, a nearby location to what was his home. He is sitting on a bench with an open book, as a symbol of its cultural importance on the island.
