Caixaforum is on of the principal references in Palma's cultural life. Originally, the building used to be the Grand Hotel, constructed in 1903 by the modernist architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, one of the most luxurious hotels in Spain. Nowadays, it's a cultural centre that houses art exhibitions of worldwide known painters, photographs, sculptors and any kind of artist. It's also remarkable the huge quantity of activities that it organises all year round. If you are in Palma, don't miss this place. Caixaforum has also a bar which terrace faces the popular Plaça del Mercat, one of the most emblematic squares in the city, and a book store with very special art books.
