Balàfia settlement

To start let´s say that Balàfia is not an outdoor museum, there´s working people who lives in here, children going to school and it is quite normal to see, for example, hanging clothes. Balàfia is a medieval village, 7 houses and two defense towers, an almost unique architectural complex on the island designed to protect its inhabitants from pirate raids in the XIV-XVI centuries. The purest traditional Ibizan architecture, bonded with small windows, flat roofs of clay at different juxtaposed volumes, ovens for baking bread and family crosses painted with lime on the doors or windows. These crosses have a protective function against negative influences. To get here, park your car in Sant LLorenç and get the path behind the Church. It´ll take you just 8 minutes walk to get there, take your camera and some water if you´re visiting it in summer with you.
