This museum was created in 1907 thanks to the donation to the State of the collection assembled by the Archaeological Society Ebusitana that since its foundation in 1903, has excavated in various spots of Ibiza and Formentera.
The content of the current permanent exhibition covers more than three thousand years of history of Ibiza and Formentera, from the first settlers to the Catalan conquest of 1235. It is divided into six areas: prehistoric settlement Phoenician, Punic, Imperial Rome periods and medieval Islamic.
