The Santa Eulària des Riu City Council has programmed a lighting campaign to give visibility to the International Day of the Phelan-McDermid Syndrome, which is celebrated on October 22, in favor of Álvaro, a 10-year-old boy who lives with his family in Sant Carles de Peralta. 

The Phelan-McDermid Syndrome is one of those known as ‘rare diseases’ and there are only 185 cases diagnosed worldwide, although with the specific mutation that Álvaro presents, there are only five registered patients.

The Santa Eulària des Riu City Council will illuminate Plaça d'Espanya, Passeig de s’Alamera and the fountains on the promenade and Tres Torres in green.
